Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had a beautifully safe holiday.
This is the 1st week of the year & I'm kicking it off with a new wine. A white cabernet. You read it right, a white cabernet. I found this wine while holiday shopping at Old Line Fine Wine.
Albastrele, Blanc De Cabernet, Moldova
This unique white wine is made from 100% cabernet grapes. If you didnt know, red wines get color from grape skins, which is called maceration. The producers of this wine did allow any skin contact during the winemaking process so a white cabernet was born.
Nose: Grapefruit, honey, peach, cooked bell peppers and slightly buttery. All reminders of a Sancerre.
The Palate: High acidity, soft body and lingering finish.
This wine will pair well with roasted oysters, flakey white fish and warm salads.
Cheers to Moldova!
