Yesterday I scurried home after a long day and decided I wasn't going anywhere. I mean nowhere. I'm still recovering from hosting Easter dinner and family visitors. Good times, but it took a lot out of me.
Anywho, my feet were propped on the coffee table as I scrolled through instagram and I saw that one of my favorite cava producers was pouring at a free tasting in 2 hours. I stared at the ceiling for 30 seconds and...this story picks up from an uber lol...The driver dropped me & the husband off at 7th street in the Shaw neighborhood.
I've been a fan of Juvé & Camps for a while now. The winery was founded in 1921 by Joan Juvé Baques and Teresa Camps Farré & is located in the middle of vines in a small town near Barcelona. They have a stellar reputation for making stunning caves.
The adorable brand ambassador poured 3 stunning cavas.
Brut Rosé: 100% Pinot Noir, $18. Red apples & strawberries on the nose with cherries on the palate. This is my favorite wine with bagels & lox.
Essential: 100% Xarello, $20. Lemon, fennel, & thyme on the nose. High acidity with ripe apples on the palate. This would pair very nicely with veggie omelets or a creamy cheese.
Brut Nature: 40% Xarello, 30% Macabeo, 20% Parelleda, 10% Chardonnay, $33 (magnum size). A quintessential cava with lemon, nectarines, and white tea. I would pair this cava with fried chicken or fried fish.
While writing, I am sipping the Essential with goat cheese & crackers.
